Senior Heating Solutions (“us”, “we”, or “our”) uses a small number of cookies on seniorheatingservices.co.uk (the “Service”). This page lists every one of them, what it is for, and how to accept or refuse it.
What are cookies
Cookies are small pieces of text that a website stores in your web browser. They let the site, or a service the site uses, recognise your browser when you come back.
Cookies can be “persistent” or “session” cookies. A persistent cookie stays on your device until it expires or you delete it; a session cookie is deleted when you close your browser.
The cookies we use
We use one kind of optional cookie: analytics cookies from Google Analytics 4. They tell us how people use the site — which pages are visited, how visitors arrive and which enquiries come through — so we can improve it. They do not tell us who you are, and we do not use them for advertising. There are no advertising cookies on this site.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Tells one visitor apart from another, so visits can be counted | 2 years |
_ga_* (for example _ga_WSLBGLWZME) | Google Analytics | Keeps track of the current visit | 2 years |
These cookies are only set if you allow analytics — by choosing “Accept All”, or by switching Analytics on under “Customise” and saving. Until you do, Google Analytics is not loaded at all: nothing is sent to Google and no cookies are set. If you choose “Reject All”, or save with Analytics off, none are set, and any set before are removed.
The only other thing we store is your cookie choice itself (see below). That is the “Necessary” item in the cookie preferences: it is always on, because without it we could not remember your answer.
We do not use any other cookies.
Your choice and how long we keep it
On your first visit, a banner at the bottom of the screen asks whether you accept analytics cookies. “Accept All”, “Reject All” and “Customise” are equally easy to choose. “Customise” lets you switch Analytics on or off before saving.
We remember your answer for 6 months, so we don’t ask on every page. It is kept in your browser’s local storage (shs-consent). If your browser blocks local storage, we keep it in a small cookie instead (shs_consent), which also lasts 6 months. Either way it holds only “granted” or “denied” — nothing about you. After 6 months the banner asks again.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time: use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page to open your cookie preferences, switch Analytics on or off, and choose “Save preferences”.
You can also delete or block cookies in your web browser’s settings. If you clear your browser’s stored data, we will ask again on your next visit.
